The Honda Accord is certainly one of America’s favorite cars, having been named a Car and Driver “10 Best” a staggering 30 times. Here’s some good news for the more eco-conscious drivers in the Baltimore area: the 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid will be joining the Accord lineup, so now you don’t have to choose between a great vehicle and your eco-conscious morals. Win-win.

"The new Honda Accord Hybrid is the ultimate Accord – the most refined, technologically sophisticated and, of course, most fuel efficient in the lineup. With Accord already America's most popular car three years running and the best-selling midsize car to younger buyers, we think this new hybrid model will add considerable momentum for the Honda brand." –John Mendel, Executive Vice President of the American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid will be available in three trim levels, Hybrid, Hybrid EX-L, and Hybrid Touring. Each grade will open up new standard and optional equipment. However, some new standard equipment you can count on would be the wide angle rearview camera, remote engine start, and Honda Sensing™ (including Collision Mitigation Braking System™, Lane Keeping Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, Road Departure Mitigation, Lane Departure Warning, and Forward Collision Warning with Automatic Emergency Braking). Across all levels, you’ll be able to switch seamlessly between the three powertrain modes in order to optimize driving styles:

  • EV Drive: In this mode, you use the electric motor and lithium ion battery pack to drive the front wheels for short distances with the gas engine turned off.
  • Hybrid Drive: In this mode, you’ll use a combination of electric motor propulsion to drive the front wheels and gasoline engine power to supplement electrical current from the battery pack.
  • Engine Drive: Finally, in this mode, there is a connection between the gas engine and electric motor that enables you to power the front wheels jointly.

The 2017 Honda Accord Hybrid arrives to showrooms this spring, so if your interest is piqued by this great hybrid, give us a call at (443) 549-3400 or come visit us at Norris Honda, located on 925 Merritt Blvd, Baltimore.
