When Disneyland Resort first opened its doors in July, 1955 in Anaheim, California, one of its attractions was Autopia -- a winding road full of cartoonish cars that the kids get to drive.

Autopia has been a staple of the Resort ever since, delighting generations of children and adults. To keep it running for generations to come, Honda announced that it will be sponsoring the attraction.

"Autopia has brought joy to generations of families and has created lasting memories for millions of Disneyland guests. Honda is proud to sponsor this iconic attraction and continue our alliance with Disneyland Resort," said Takuji Yamada, president & CEO of American Honda Motor Co., Inc.

Already the cars of Autopia are powered by Honda engines. Soon, the ride will be getting updates to its appearances and to its narrative.

Honda has been working with Disneyland Resort since 2005, when the automaker sponsored fireworks events, and an exhibit in Tomorrowland featuring ASIMO.

"The updates to Autopia provide a perfect opportunity to showcase our long-standing relationship with Honda," said Michael Colglazier, president of the Disneyland Resort, "and we look forward to sharing the attraction with our guests later this year."
