Everyday, customers rely on Honda to produce quality, efficient engines under the hoods of their new Honda models found in showrooms like Norris Honda. When high demand calls for action, the company may have to expand their production lines and/or facilities. That's precisely what Honda's looking to do in China.
The plans are to expand a third production line in the ZengCheng facility in the country in order to keep up with demand. It won't just be your old run of the mill production line. Honda's more careful than that. This line will be eco-conscious and optimize energy resources via a solar power generation system with 10,000 kilowatt capacity--the largest to be installed in China by any automaker.
Furthermore, the line will utilize a painting technology that will only apply as much paint as absolutely necessary, and it will have a laser welding machine designed for the stamping plant.
The line is scheduled to begin work in 2015 starting with 120,000 units to produce a year in full capacity. Once momentum builds, it will eventually reach a maximum of 240,000 units--which will be extremely helpful. Guangqi Honda Automobile Co., Ltd.'s overall annual vehicle production will shoot up to 600,000 units (from 480,000 units). When we apply that to Honda's overall annual production capacity in China, the new number is 1.01 million units.
We have confidence that the citizens of China will benefit from the soon-to-be production line's efficient efforts.
