One of the things we admire most about Honda is their commitment to working with what they've got. A recent example of this is their decision to take the platform of their best-selling Honda Civic and build a new compact SUV - smaller than even the CR-V.

Don't worry. Honda isn't planning on cannibalizing their own compact SUV market in the U.S. Rather, their bringing the small SUV hatch to market in Europe where they're are proven to be preferred.

Given that the development of the new Honda SUV is still in its infancy, Honda continues to keep most details surrounding the vehicle safely behind sealed lips. As far as we know, they haven't even settled on a vehicle name.

What we can tell you is based on a very modest image: The new Honda SUV will look very similar to the 2012 Civic you can currently find at our showroom located at 925 Merritt Blvd Baltimore, MD - at least from the front. The rear totally transforms the vehicle's silhouette with a gently-sloped roofline, which gives way to a versatile hatch door and protruding taillights.
