Norris Honda in Baltimore, MD is bringing you the 2012 Honda Fit - at least the regular gas version. So far, the United States hasn't seen the EV version on their roads. Will that change?
No clue from Honda yet, as the Japanese auto maker introduced their EV at Frankfurt's Motor Show in Germany last month.
Powered by a lithium-ion battery and electric motor, Honda claims Fit EV has a 100-mile range and reaches top speeds of 90 mph. The battery can be charged in 12 hours using a 120-volt outlet. That time is cut down to 6 hours with 240-volt outlets.
Fuel efficiency is aided by a user-controlled three-mode system: Economy, Normal, or Sport. Honda claims the differences are "an increase of 17 percent in driving range with the Economy mode over the Normal mode and 25 percent better than Sport mode. In Sport mode, the performance is adjusted to improved acceleration."1
In-dash display helps drivers determine when to shut off the air conditioning or radio in order to save electricity. Honda Fit will also connect drivers to their cars via smartphone while at other locations. You will be able to remotely check or begin a charge, activate air conditioning, start the vehicle, and provide charging alerts, 24-hour roadside assistance, and locate charging stations.
