Recently, it was announced that two 2017 Honda vehicles had been named winners of Kelley Blue Book's "2017 5-Year Cost to Own" Awards1, which honor those vehicles that are the least expensive to own in their categories.

The 2017 Honda Accord won the award in the mid-size car category, as the editors noted the car's history of reliability and ability to hold onto its value.

The 2017 Honda HR-V took home top honors in the subcompact SUV/crossover category for the second straight year, a just reward for a vehicle praised for its affordability, reliability and resale value.

Kelley Blue Book calculates cost-to-own data for the initial five-year ownership period by considering depreciation, expected fuel costs, finance and insurance fees, maintenance and repair expenses and any applicable state fees. The awards are given to new vehicles with the lowest ownership costs based upon these calculations.
