When an automaker redesigns one of its flagship models, you can count on seeing a wide range of new advertisements to promote it. And while the 2013 Honda Accord is no different with the "It Starts With You" television spots, the Big H is also trying something new in the realm of automotive marketing. Specifically, Honda has recruited the help of Zynga in order to help promote its redesigned, mid-size sedan in a more interactive way.

Interactive?

For those of you who've never heard of Zynga, it's a game studio that noteworthy for introducing some of the first social games to Facebook. Today, the company has expanded its offerings to other platforms, including a wide range of mobile devices. In other words, Zynga knows how to engage and audience, and that's precisely what Honda is aiming to do.

Of course, we here at Norris Honda realize that advertisements and games are two different things. The people at Zynga, however, do not. The company has made a wide range of games based on what's called a "freemium" model, where games are directly supported and funded through advertising. And this is where Honda comes into play.

From now through October 31st, Honda is sponsoring two Zynga games: "Words With Friends" and "Scramble With Friends." These two word based games will reward players for automotive-themed entries, especially ones pertaining to Honda and the Accord. A small sampling of words that can earn in-game rewards includes "Accord," "Tech," "New," and "Luxury."
